Wicca
Maybe it’s because I’ve been sick and I’m starting to feel better. Maybe it’s because I’ve got a really cool RSS feed. But for some reason, I’m feeling the need to review a second site today. So, here I am at a Geocities site. I don’t recall how I found this gem, but it was tagged in my bookmarks for review.
Let’s start with the URL. http://www.geocities.com/wiccen06/page1.html. Okay. “wiccen06″? What’s up? Were there already five other users who don’t know how to spell “Wiccan”?
On the first page, I am informed that “The site that has information that will help you on your path to becomming Wiccan.” I’m not even going to touch the spelling error in there.
Background? Purple satin-y texture. Very five years ago. I’m always surprised when people are still using it. Ho-hum. I’ve also been challenged by the web page: “So, you wanna be a Wiccan or a Witch?…
Enter if you dare…”
*rolls eyes* I think I dare. It’s a friggin web page, for gods’ sake. It’s not like horrible, heinous things will happen to me for clicking “enter” on a geocities site. At worst, my browser will crash, I will get a headache, and I will hate whomever put such an eyesore on the web. Give me a break. Why the need to sound ooky-spooky? *clicks enter and waits with trepidation*
Hey. The second page isn’t so heinous. Okay, the blue stripe-y background reminds me of grandma’s bad wall paper. But it’s neatly laid out. I actually kind of like the organizational structure, though I’ve seen it done much prettier on a site that is no longer with us.
Unfortunately, I’ve just spotted something on that page that makes me doubt the value of anything that may be in those book of shadows pages:
The Purpose of this site is to allow me to grow in the ways of Wicca and to teach others all that I know and maybe continue Wiccan ways into the lives of the living Americans and people from other countries. I resent being called a “fluffy bunny” because of what I believe in so
to those who call me and other Wiccans “fluffy bunny’s”. Besides.. if it weren’t agianst Wiccan laws to say or act on bad thoughts I would have a few choice words to say to you so hush! Let others decide for themselves how they feel about Wicca.
You resent being called a fluffy bunny? Then don’t be so friggin fluffy. And there are no “Wiccan laws” against saying “bad thoughts”. Grow a friggin spine, you moron. And don’t tell me to hush. It’s not my fault that you’re so pathetic that you feel the need to post such whiney garbage. And don’t try to infringe on my first amendment rights. I might think you’re a moron, but I damned sure support your right to be stupid in public.
*le sigh* Now, let’s see what’s in this book of shadows section. After the fluffy bunny manifesto, I’m kind of dreading to find out what she thinks Wicca is.
*groans* Wicca is many things, she says. “This website deals with what Wicca is overall. In other words it is Eccentric Wicca.” Eccentric Wicca? Um, I think she means “eclectic Wicca”, not “Wicca for Weirdos”. Or, hey, looking at the content, maybe she does.
Either way, it’s a hodgepodge of no meaning and a waste of bandwidth.
The Wiccan Beliefs is an extension of the fluffy manifesto. If I were willing to take the time, I could point/counterpoint everything she has on that page. And on most of the site, for that matter. That’s pretty much the status quo for this site. Every now and again, there’s something that’s not complete crap, but it’s already done in other places, and it’s done much better.
This site really makes me miss Natalie Lincoln’s Book of Shadows. At least Natalie’s site was good and non-fluffy.
The bottom line? Only go there if you’re hunting bunny stew. Otherwise, you just might go into insulin shock, or choke on all the fur.

ha… that site is hilarious! I wonder where she copied all of her information from… I don’t think she has it in her to tell me how to astral project, or create a bos, or anything for that matter. It is so cute… how old is this girl, 11? Geez… I love the site
