Lady of the Earth
Oh, my. I’m not even sure where I should start with this one. The idea is really good. It’s easy to get around. Some of the pieces on there are very well written.
Too bad the webmaster/webmistress botched the whole “responsible webmaster” part. On the first page, the site says “All files and graphics I have collected here are, to my knowledge, free domain or personally authored by Lady Of The Earth. I have been collecting these files for over 10 years and many have also been given to me. I have left on all acknowledgements, authors and copyrights that were attached to any files I have. Many of the pages are NOT public domain, others have been extensively edited and compiled by Lady Of The Earth, and the contents are for personal use only and are not to be used for any commercial purposes whatsoever nor distrubuted without the written permission of Lady Of The Earth. Portions of these pages are copyright by Lady Of The Earth. If you find one that is not public domain or credit was not given, please let me know and I will be happy to give credit to the author. Also please be prepared to give PROOF as there are many who make claims that are untrue. Blessed Be!”
That would be nice in theory, but I found my work, originally posted here also on LotE, without my title, listed as “author unknown”, yet with my copyright information at the bottom.
Too bad that, in her “zeal” to observe copyright and respect others’ work, she didn’t bother to check Google, where my site comes in as the top hit for that essay.
There are also other items listed on that site that, I suspect, shouldn’t be there.
Shame on the webmistress for putting up other people’s work without permission.
