The Wiccan Rede Project

Filed under: Texts — enyo @ 4:47 pm

Tired of others insisting that the Rede is only eight words? Tired of people attributing it to Gardner? Tired of people insisting that the Rede is The Sacred Law That All Wiccans Must Follow? Then dispair no more, fellow Pagans! Seriously, this site isn’t the most gorgeous to look at, but it is exceptional in content. Shea Thomas went to great lengths to give information on where the Rede itself came from, different versions of the Rede, and how the eight-word version became so popular. It’s really a must-see site, whether you’re Wiccan or not.

Internet Sacred Texts Archive

This is easily one of the most educational sites that I’ve ever seen. It’s got the texts of every path that I’ve ever heard of, and a ton of others that I never even knew existed. Christianity includes some texts that I firmly believe that everyone, regardless of path, should read (including the Gospel of Thomas and the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri). In addition, the Classics section includes Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey, as well as works by Sophocles and Plato. The Roman works of Virgil and Ovid are included as well. This is a must bookmark site.

Book of Shadows

This is an absolutely *beautiful* site! It’s easy to read and easy to navigate, and it’s nicely organized. Yeah, it’s got your typical book of shadows stuff, like the candle color correspondances and the Charge of the Goddess, but what sets this site apart is that it a.) actually credits authors of well-known pieces, instead of just taking it for granted that everyone knows who wrote what and b.) it’s got a lot of things in one place that you might ordinarily have to go to three or four sites to find. Excellent for beginners.
